Before my gall bladder surgery 3 years ago I actually thought I had pulled a muscle in my right flank area, radiating to the lower back. This went on for some time with no relief before I discovered through ultrasound that my gallbladder was the culprit. During surgery not only was it full of stones, but also full of tunnels, it was actually disintegrating! I had immediate relief of pain afterwards but for a month I was so nauseated I couldn't eat and lost12 pounds. Gradually that abated and all was well. But over time I had problems that I attributed to IBS. Bloating, gas, digestive issues, cramping, elimination issues.
